A passenger ferry smashed into a concrete jetty at the port of Rafina on Monday night, cutting it in two, a local news website reported.
Despite the severity of the impact, no injuries were reported among the passengers and crew, and no marine pollution or fuel spillage was immediately observed in the wider area of the port, which lies about 20 km east of Athens.
Andros King was sailing from Mykonos to Rafina, carrying 283 passengers, 67 vehicles, 13 trucks, 10 motorcycles and 60 crew members on board, authorities said.
At the time of the accident northerly winds of 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale were blowing in the area.
Port authorities in Rafina which conducted checks on the ship determined that no damage had been caused and Andros King was allowed to depart this morning at 7.50 from the port.
