Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader said here on Monday that if flooded road potholes in Dakshina Kannada caused the death of any person during the monsoon the engineer concerned will be directly held responsible.Speaking at a meeting in the office of the Deputy Commissioner at Praja Soudha, to review the preparations to face the monsoon in the district, the Minister said that potholes should be filled up permanently.He asked officials to coordinate with each other to deal with any disasters that may arise during the rainy season.The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department should work in tandem to handle cases of flooding on roads. In emergency situations, action should be taken beyond the scope in the public interest, he said.Mescom should arrange additional linemen and vehicles for maintaining electricity lines and transformers during monsoon. Prompt action should be taken to restore electricity connection in case of failure, he said.The Minister said that respective local bodies should clear road blockages owing to floods without delay.
