MANILA, Philippines — Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste on Monday clarified that his letter to Sen. Erwin Tulfo stemmed from his desire to see the flood control investigations continue, adding that he has grown restless with Congress currently not in session.
After reports surfaced that he had offered to assist Tulfo in the flood control probe, Leviste said he was pleased that while other agencies had stopped their investigations, the Senate continued to look into the issue.
“I am glad that, whereas others have stopped, the Senate is continuing to investigate flood control projects. I am somewhat bored because Congress is not in session now, and there are no hearings on these issues. It is a good thing that senators continue their work,” he said.
“The taxes people pay for the Senate are put to good use — even during the session break, many want hearings to continue,” he added.
