Two young men were robbed of cash and personal documents after their vehicle broke down along the Beetham Highway in the early hours of Saturday morning.According to police reports, the victims were travelling west along the highway around 2.34 a.m. in a white Mitsubishi Lancer when they were forced to stop near the Beetham Landfill after a fire began emitting from the vehicle's engine bay.A short while later, they were approached by two men who announced a robbery.Police said there was a struggle and one of the victims was beaten.The bandits stole a total of $410 in cash, along with a wallet containing a Republic Bank debit card, driver's permit and identification card.The suspects then escaped in the Beetham Gardens area.One suspect was described as being of African descent, dark brown in complexion, medium-built, approximately six feet tall, with an unkempt hairstyle and no facial hair. He was wearing a white jersey and black three-quarter pants.The second suspect was described as dark brown in complexion, slim-built, approximately six feet tall, with long unkempt hair and a goatee. He was wearing an orange-and-green T-shirt and grey three-quarter pants.The matter was reported to officers of the Besson Street Police Station.
