A person was threatened with a weapon during an alleged attempt to steal their vehicle in Christchurch’s seaside suburb of Sumner overnight.
Police were called to The Esplanade about 10.40pm on Tuesday after four alleged offenders approached the victim and attempted to take the vehicle.
The group fled before officers arrived, but were located a short time later and taken into custody.
Police said the victim was uninjured but “understandably shaken” by the incident.
Two youth have been referred to Youth Aid and a youth and a 22-year-old man are due to appear in Christchurch Youth Court on May 28.
