Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected gun runners linked to a May 1, 2026 incident involving a Beretta pistol discovered in a waybill at a motor park in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, announced the arrests in Asaba on Monday while parading the suspects, identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike.

He said, “The suspects were arrested in Bayelsa and Imo State, respectively, after a painstaking investigation and intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives of the Command.”

According to him, the first suspect, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, was arrested in Bayelsa on May 4, 2026, alongside his friend and roommate, whose phone he allegedly used to communicate during the purchase of the firearm.

The Commissioner of Police further stated, “Emmanuel revealed that he bought the gun from one Amadi Princewill for the sum N290,000 and sold the gun to one Desmond (at large) for the sum of N380,000, who in turn waybilled it to Effurun and contacted Oghenemine Ogidi (now deceased) to collect it and send to Sapele.
