June 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. General Services Administration said Monday that the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's full financial support will be a boon for its headquarters renovation plan.

The House committee approved the plan on Thursday, clearing the way for the General Services Administration to renovate its headquarters after its current building was deemed "uninhabitable."

"This will pave the way for a high-quality and dynamic federal campus, setting a new high watermark for building design," Edward C. Frost, GSA administrator, said in a statement. "Once completed, 1800 F will inspire excellence, connect people, and elevate the way GSA delivers for the American taxpayer."

GSA employees have been working from the Theodore Roosevelt Federal Building which also houses employees from the Office of Personnel Management.
