The police on Sunday arrested two persons on charges of robbing a youth from Coimbatore of his gold chain and cash after inviting him to a secluded place using a dating app.V. Soundar (19) of Muthaliyar Street at Ganapathy and Suresh Gopinath (18) of Ukkadam were arrested based on a complaint lodged by a 26-year-old youth.According to the police, the complainant from Ganapathy is known to Soundar through the dating app. Soundar contacted him over phone and asked him to come near the railway bridge at Avarampalayam around 7 p.m. on June 6.As the complainant reached the spot, Soundar and his accomplice robbed him of a two-sovereign gold chain and one ear stud. They also allegedly made him transfer ₹725 to an account using a UPI app. The Kattoor police registered a case on Sunday based on the complaint from the affected youth and a team led by Inspector T.
