Essex Police said it was reported that a vehicle had collided with a child in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood, on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the Ashwells Road area at 5.40pm, where the 12-year-old boy was found with serious injuries.‌The child was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Despite the best efforts of all involved, he has since died. The boy's family is being supported by specialist officers.‌The two suspects, both from the Pilgrims Hatch area, remain in custody. Ashwells Road is expected to remain closed for some time and police have asked motorists to find other routes, Essex Live reports.Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe said: "Our first thoughts are of course with the family of the boy who has tragically died after this incident.
