Three individuals planning a protest to draw attention to worsening insecurity and the abduction of 17 residents in Eda-Oniyo community, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, were arrested on Monday on the orders of the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, according to the activists.
SaharaReporters learnt that the planned protest was aimed at raising awareness about the continued captivity of 16 kidnapped victims and the killing of a pastor who was among the 17 people abducted by suspected bandits more than six weeks ago.
One of those arrested, Moyinoluwa Olowoyo, popularly known as "Gigabytes Nation," disclosed the development on Monday.
"We've just been arrested by order of the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police," Olowoyo said.
