Pedestrians strolling through the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center next week will see a 20-foot-tall, 41-foot-wide inflatable liver.For Global Fatty Liver Day on June 11, pharmaceutical company Madrigal is launching its MASH Across America initiative to educate the public on fatty liver disease, otherwise known as Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis. Madrigal will kick off the activation with a ceremony at 12 p.m.Visitors can walk through the inflatable liver to read facts about liver health from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and ask liver health-related questions to Jefferson Health hepatologist Dr. Rebecca Loh, who will be on-site from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.Former Major League Soccer player and broadcaster Jamie Watson is hosting the exhibit, helping to raise awareness as his mother is on the national transplant waiting list awaiting a liver transplant. Harris Poll research released in May reported that 52% of Americans have never had their livers tested for health reasons, and 31% of Americans incorrectly believe you can live without a liver, Madrigal said in a statement. Fatty liver disease is one of the fastest-growing and underdiagnosed health crises in the U.S., impacting one in three Americans.The Philadelphia installation kicks off a nationwide tour, with Madrigal planning to inflate the liver in other major U.S. cities. Real Chemistry is leading the campaign.Biopharmaceutical company Madrigal was founded in 2011 to develop targeted therapies for liver diseases like MASH. Driven by the launch of its drug Rezdiffra, the company reported $311.3 million in Q1 2026 revenue, marking a 127% year-over-year increase, as it said the overall MASH market has grown 50% over the past two years to 460,000 patients.
