Sharjah firefighters rescued a newborn girl and her family trapped on the second floor of a residential building during a blaze.
Crews from two stations responded to the fire in the Al Nasiriyah area at approximately 1.35am on Friday.
An air-conditioning unit was identified as the cause of the fire, which was contained without casualties or spread to neighbouring apartments.
Thick smoke posed the greatest danger to residents, particularly the elderly and children, rather than the flames themselves.
