South African DJ Black Coffee real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo addressed a poster claiming to quote him on xenophobia in South Africa.
Internationally acclaimed South African DJ and music producer Black Coffee has publicly dismissed a viral social media post that falsely attributed comments about South Africa’s image abroad to him.
The Grammy Award-winning artist, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, took to X (formerly Twitter) on June 6 to distance himself from the fabricated quote that had gained traction online.
The viral poster claimed that he had said: “Being a SA abroad is now embarrassing as everyone thinks all of us are xenophobic nation.”
The image featured a photograph of the DJ alongside the South African flag. However, social media users quickly pointed out several red flags, including the fact that his name was incorrectly spelt as “Black Koffe” instead of Black Coffee.
