A team of robots from China’s Unitree has performed a dance routine with a human dancer on the popular US television show America’s Got Talent, even as lawmakers proposed measures to ban the devices as a national security threat.

The eight G1 humanoid robots appeared on the 2 June season premiere of the programme along with Wu Yufei, a male dancer from Sichuan province, performing a synchronised routine that included all eight robots simultaneously executing a front flip.

Unitree models have performed high-profile synchronised routines in the past, including during the annual Spring Festival Gala on China’s CCTV, but this level of exposure is unusual for the US.
