RIYADH: Work has begun on a major road development project in Riyadh aimed at improving traffic flow and strengthening connections between key areas of the capital.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced on Sunday the start of construction on two new bridges as part of the Taif Road Development Project, which will upgrade the road's intersections with Najd Road and Asir Road.
The project is expected to enhance connectivity between Qiddiya in western Riyadh and the capital's Ring Road and Jeddah Road to the east, while reducing travel times along one of the city's busiest transport corridors.
According to the commission, the 15-kilometer project includes the construction of the bridges and upgrades to the main road network.
Once completed, the corridor's capacity is expected to reach around 200,000 vehicles per day.
