Musk will virtually attend a closed-door ASML technology conference for employees, where he is expected to discuss Terafab, a planned SpaceX-Tesla (TSLA) chipmaking venture focused on AI, robotics, space, and semiconductor manufacturing. According to ASML, Musk “will share his vision on AI, robotics, space, and semiconductor manufacturing” at the event.
The project is ambitious, as the Terafab reportedly aims to build a U.S. chip factory costing at least $55 billion and eventually produce 2-nanometer chips, which sit near the cutting edge of current semiconductor technology. Musk wants the effort to support the massive computing needs of Tesla, SpaceX, and his broader AI and robotics plans.
Meanwhile, ASML shares dropped 6.55% on Friday, in line with the broader sell-off in the tech sector, and closed at $1,641.74.
