The office rejected the allegation, stating that the publication lacked credibility and was intended to damage the senator’s reputation.

The media office of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has dismissed reports linking the lawmaker to the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the sister of Oyo State politician and former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons, describing the allegation as false, malicious and politically motivated.

Senator Alli is currently serving his first term representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the 10th Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is the party’s governorship candidate for Oyo State ahead of the 2027 election.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the senator's media office said its attention had been drawn to a report circulating on social media that sought to connect Alli to the kidnapping incident.

“The attention of the Media Office of Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has been drawn to a malicious and reckless report circulating on social media seeking to falsely connect the distinguished lawmaker to the unfortunate abduction of Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons,” the statement said.
