The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed that investigations are underway into the abduction of Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and leading All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, alongside her two children in a daylight attack on Wednesday.
Ayanlade Olayinka, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Challenge Division and other tactical teams to the scene. The police have successfully recovered the victim’s vehicle and are conducting a thorough forensic probe to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
John-Paul, 43, was intercepted by armed assailants at approximately 7:30 a.m. while commuting to drop off her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, at school in Ibadan. Femi Awogboro, media aide to Chief Adelabu, confirmed in a formal statement that the abductors forcefully seized the mother and her children.
The victim, the youngest of five siblings born to Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu, recently retired from a distinguished career at the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. Following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan from the United States to prepare for her husband’s eventual return.
