The district administration has released a draft list for the reorganisation of polling stations in the seven Assembly constituencies of Visakhapatnam district, and have invited objections and suggestions from stakeholders till June 15.District Election Officer and Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore on Sunday said that the exercise is being undertaken in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India. It pertains to the reorganisation of the existing 1,980 polling stations in the district.The draft list has been prepared after taking into account factors such as the establishment of new polling stations wherever required, changes in existing polling station details, and relocation of polling stations to ensure that the number of electors per polling station does not exceed 1,200, as stipulated in the Commission’s guidelines.Copies of the draft list have been made available at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and the Collectorate for public scrutiny. Recognised political parties, MPs and MLAs have also been provided copies. Written objections and suggestions may be submitted to the concerned authorities before June 15.
