R. Thirunavukkarasu took charge as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Tirunelveli Range on Sunday.Addressing the media, he said the primary objective was to ensure a peaceful environment by taking preventive measures on law and order issues. Intensive monitoring would be carried out to prevent crimes against women and children, and swift action would be taken if there were any crimes reported against them. In addition, strict measures would also be carried out to curb the movement of narcotic substances.Awareness programmes would be conducted among students to promote social harmony and create an environment free of caste-based differences.Strict action would be taken against those who spread rumours on social media and disturb peace.
