The Atiku camp further accused the former SGF of abandoning substantive issues and resorting to personal attacks against the ADC presidential candidate.

The media office of the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has launched a scathing attack on former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, accusing him of attempting to rewrite history and divert attention from allegations surrounding the ADC presidential primary.

In a statement issued on Sunday by Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, the former Vice President’s camp dismissed Lawal’s recent criticisms of Atiku, describing them as the product of a desperate attempt to cover up what it called his “ignominious role” in efforts to manipulate the ADC presidential ticket process.

The statement alleged that Lawal had sought to influence the outcome of the party’s presidential primary but was prevented from doing so by officials responsible for conducting the election.

“We read with amusement but concern for the mental state of former SGF Babachir Lawal, his latest attempt at revisionism of his disgraceful public service record and failed efforts to cause the rigging of the ADC presidential primary,” the statement said.
