In a statement signed by Phrank Shaibu, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president's camp described Lawal's criticisms as unfounded and accused him of attempting to discredit a democratic process without presenting evidence.

The media office of former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly rejected allegations made by a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

SaharaReporters reports that Lawal had criticised Atiku regarding the conduct of the party's recent presidential primaries.

In a statement signed by Phrank Shaibu, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president's camp described Lawal's criticisms as unfounded and accused him of attempting to discredit a democratic process without presenting evidence.

The statement followed comments by Lawal questioning the credibility of the ADC presidential primary and alleging irregularities in the process that produced Atiku as the party's standard-bearer for the 2027 presidential election.
