Kabuni, an AI-powered sports platform focused on cricket coaching, launched at its Playtime 2026 event in Mumbai. The platform uses AI to provide personalised coaching feedback to players through a mobile-based system, allowing users to train remotely.Kabuni has also introduced a panel of cricketers, including Sourav Ganguly, Shane Watson, AB de Villiers, and Shreyas Iyer, who will be involved in challenges and youth tournaments on the platform.Kabuni aims to expand access to cricket coaching through digital tools. The platform was developed with a focus on encouraging physical activity among young people by using technology to support sports participation.Founder Nimesh Patel said the idea for Kabuni was shaped by his own experience with sport and a desire to help young people access training and development opportunities. The company’s technology platform, Kabuni PlayOS, analyses live play and evaluates areas such as timing, balance, alignment, footwork, and sequencing to provide feedback to players. The system uses performance data from professional cricketers to guide training.India has been selected as Kabuni’s launch market, with the company citing the country’s large cricket audience. Following an initial phase in India and partnerships with sports bodies, the platform is expected to expand internationally later this year. The launch also includes a national campaign, “Do You Want to Play for a Legend?”, aimed at players aged 12-16 in India. Participants will train on the platform, take part in trials, and compete for places on teams led by the platform’s ambassador coaches, culminating in a national youth tournament.Patel said access to quality coaching, structured competition and player development remain challenges for many young cricketers, and that the platform aims to address these through AI-based coaching and youth competitions. The company said the platform is intended to complement existing coaching systems and support programmes ranging from schools to organised competitions.
