Fitness enthusiasts are often told to give up on dairy products like milk, ghee etc as dairy foods are not often considered conducive to weight loss. However, Kareena Kapoor Khan have always been a fan of going against the grain. In one of her interviews with Times Of India, the ‘Jab We Met’ star said that she was brought up with a diet rich in dairy. Describing dairy as her “first love” she said: "I've grown up eating ghee, milk, curd, and don't feel the need to remove them from my diet at all..”"Being a Punjabi, the aroma of ghee brings a million-dollar smile on my face and makes me want to eat more," she said. "I can never say no to a dal with ghee ka tadka. A generous amount of ghee on my parathas is a must, 365 days." She also explained that ghee has multiple benefits and gives your skin a healthy glow. While she doesn’t believe in removing dairy, she does believe in moderation when it comes to the quantity. "It is important to include food items that are nutrient-rich in your daily nutrition chart. Holistic eating is the key," she said. "So as long as your intake is in adequate quantities, I don't think there is a need to eliminate anything from your diet. The daily dose of dairy nutrition is a must because they make us internally strong,” she concluded. Khan also maintained that she rarely eats out and relies on home-cooked food. Becoming a mom made her even more wary of the freshness and hygiene of the food in her kitchen. “My go-to healthy snack is eating fruits and drinking homemade smoothies or milkshakes,” she said. Celebrity dietician Rujuta Diwekar who had worked with Kareena and is credited for her size-zero avatar in the film Tashan is one of the few dieticians who is a trailblazer when it comes to believing in desi foods being nutritional powerhouses and has often advocated on ghee being beneficial. In an old YouTube video, the nutritionist underlined the various benefits of ghee. She explained it has anti viral, anti fungal properties. She said that ghee has a few essential amino acids which helps you mobilise your fat cells into letting go of their energy source.
