LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have unearthed an Afghan network involved in illegal hawala/hundi operations.

The FIA Commercial Banking Circle Lahore on Friday arrested three suspects including two Afghan nationals. They have been identified as Najeeb and Naqeeb (Afghan nationals) and Talha, a local resident. A Pakistani passport belonging to the father of the arrested Afghan suspects was also recovered from them.

“The suspects are linked to an international hawala/hundi network. The scope of the investigation has been expanded further to identify other facilitators and financial links of the group,” the FIA said.
