LUCENA CITY — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) rescued 55 prospective overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from unsafe and substandard accommodations in Imus City, Cavite, on Saturday, June 6.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the DMW said the operation was launched following reports of illegal and deplorable living conditions involving OFW applicants temporarily housed by licensed recruitment agencies while awaiting deployment abroad.

The agency did not identify the recruitment firms involved.
