A 52-year-old man allegedly shot dead his wife and son following a domestic dispute at their home in Ashok Vihar Phase III of Sector 5 on Sunday morning, police said.Police have launched an investigation into the double murder to ascertain the motive and circumstances behind the killings.The deceased, identified as Aasha Rani and Prashant Kumar, were taken to a civil hospital in Sector 10A, where doctors declared them dead.Police have launched an investigation into the double murder to ascertain the motive and circumstances behind the killings.“Only after the quizzing of the man will it become clear what drove him to murder them and whether it was a preplanned incident. He will be arrested soon,” police officers said.Investigators said that neighbours had alerted the police control room about the incident after hearing gunshots, following which patrolling vehicles reached the spot and found the woman and her son unresponsive. Later, forensic experts also reached the scene to collect several samples for ballistic and other analyses.According to police, the bodies will soon be shifted to the government mortuary for autopsy, after which they will be handed over to the family members.An FIR under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at the Sector 5 police station on Sunday.
