A 23-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his elder brother at their residence in Daulatabad village in Sector 103, police said on Thursday.Investigators said locals alerted the police, and forensic experts reached the spot. (Shutterstock)Police identified the deceased as Ashish Kumar, 26, a resident of Daulatabad. On May 31, he was found dead inside the house by neighbours. His head and face were smashed by stones, police said, adding that he also had injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon on his head.Investigators said locals alerted the police, and forensic experts reached the spot.Sandeep Turan, public relations officer for Gurugram police, said Ashish was addicted to liquor and usually drank with his friends at home.“On the night of May 30, Ashish’s brother waited for his friend to leave; however, the friend continued to stay and drink. The suspect asked the friend to leave when an argument broke out between the brothers, which soon turned into a scuffle,” he said.Investigators said that during the scuffle, the suspect picked up a stone to hit Ashish in the head. He later used a spade to hit his head, resulting in his death.Ashish’s friend, meanwhile, fled the spot as soon as the argument broke out. After Ashish died, his brother also fled the scene, said police.Police said that after arresting the suspect in Sector 106, he confessed to the murder.Based on the family’s complaint and the autopsy report, police registered an FIR under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the suspect at Rajendra Park police station on Wednesday. Police added that the suspect was taken on a one-day police remand for detailed interrogation.
