Police have arrested five people for allegedly taking part in a procession by the Awami League’s banned youth wing Chhatra League in Benapole.
They were arrested in separate raids in the area until Saturday afternoon, said Benapole Port Police chief Ashraf Hossain.
A video of the procession on Friday afternoon went viral on social media, showing 25 to 30 men carrying a banner of the Chhatra League from the Municipal Gate before Jummah prayers.
Ashraf said, "Police raided the site and nearby locations after receiving intel. Five suspects were arrested after analysing the video.”
He added that the arrestees are being interrogated and operations are under way to arrest the rest of the suspects.
