Apollo Cancer Centre (ACC) celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day by officially launching its state-of-the-art PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography Computed Tomography) scanning service, here on Saturday. Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi formally inaugurated the facility, in the presence of senior clinical and administrative leadership.Addressing the gathering, COO, Apollo Hospitals, Krishna Prasad explained that the newly launched PET-CT service acts as a gamechanger in cancer staging and response monitoring. By mapping metabolic activity in tumour cells, it detects malignancy with extraordinary precision – often well before anatomical changes show up on conventional scans.Speaking at the event, Mr. Bagchi lauded Apollo’s efforts in bridging cutting-edge technology with empathetic patient care, stating that the resilience of survivors coupled with revolutionary medical science provides immense hope to those currently fighting the disease.
