Five people have been arrested by the Raidurgam police during a special enforcement drive against dangerous bike stunts and illegal racing in Hyderabad’s IT Corridor, particularly in and around the T-Hub area, following a rise in incidents involving reckless riding and social media promotion of such activities.Cases have been registered, the vehicles seized and the accused produced before a court in accordance with the law. As part of the crackdown, the police also identified 35 social media accounts involved in promoting bike stunts and racing.According to the police, several riders have been performing stunts and racing, causing inconvenience and safety concerns to commuters. Police said some people were recording and uploading videos of these acts on social media platforms, encouraging others to participate in similar activities.Police said those involved in stunt riding, illegal racing and related activities could face action under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Motor Vehicles Act and the Information Technology Act, depending on the nature of the offence.The police also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and cautioned young riders against chasing social media fame through dangerous stunts. The police also appealed to residents, RWAs and commuters to report instances of stunt riding and illegal racing through Dial 100, the Cyberabad Police helpline or the nearest police station.
