The arrangements being made for the conduct of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) — scheduled to be held on June 21 — were reviewed by Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao here on Saturday (June 6, 2026). Principal Secretary of Health department Christina Z Chongthu said that around 72,956 students are expected to appear for the NEET examination across 208 examination centres located in 24 cities throughout the State. Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) Abhishek Singh said that, for the first time, the Indian Air Force is being engaged to transport question papers.The Chief Secretary directed district administrations to work in close coordination with all departments concerned and ensure that candidates are provided a hassle-free environment on the examination day. Infrastructure, transportation, security, power supply, drinking water and other essential facilities are being put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination, said the Principal Secretary. Additional Director General of Police Mahesh Bhagwat directed police officials to ensure comprehensive security arrangements at all examination centres and maintain constant vigilance. He cautioned officials against misinformation and advised them to actively monitor and utilize social media platforms to promptly address any “false information that may affect the conduct of the examination”.Paddy procurementOn the occasion, the Chief Secretary also reviewed paddy procurement operations. Considering the forecast for rains in the coming days, he directed Collectors to take necessary precautionary measures to secure harvested paddy and expedite procurement in areas where stocks are still pending.
