Minister for Welfare of Backward Classes V. Sampath Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of social justice hostels functioning at Sokkampalayam near Annur in Coimbatore district on Friday night.During the visit, the Minister inspected hostels run for both boys and girls under the Adi Dravidar and Backward Classes Welfare Departments. He interacted with students residing in the hostels and enquired about their grievances and the facilities available to them.As part of the inspection, Mr. Sampath Kumar personally tasted the food served to students to assess its quality. He also examined attendance registers, checked the stock and quality of provisions stored in the kitchen and reviewed hygiene standards in and around the cooking area.The Minister further inspected toilets and bathrooms used by students and sought details from hostel wardens regarding sanitation and maintenance measures. Interacting with the students, he urged them to focus on their studies and strive to make their parents proud through their academic achievements.District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Viswanathan and other officials accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
