The Education Ministry will cut the number of teachers temporarily transferred to administrative posts by roughly 30% as it scrambles to prevent classroom staffing shortages at the start of the next school year.

The ministry said 3,272 teachers were moved from classrooms during the current 2025-2026 academic year; that figure is set to fall to 2,290 next year.

Meanwhile, only about 5,500 permanent teacher appointments are planned for this summer, down from 10,000 the previous year, and 2,500 teachers took leave for health and other reasons.

Adding to the problem, demand for classroom support is also rising.

Approved requests for parallel-support educators reached 31,667 this year and are projected to climb to around 33,000 next year.
