A new data center in Murcia, Spain, is being planned, as another energy firm moves into digital infrastructure.

Renewable energy firm Grupo Fotones is planning a 140MW campus near the Espinardo university campus.

The Casiopeia project could reportedly see up to €1.15 billion ($1.33bn) invested, and would be one of the largest technology investments announced to date in the autonomous community.

The project will be developed in two phases. The first phase will offer 78MW of capacity, while a second expansion would add another 62MW. An on-site substation is planned.

If the planned timelines are met, construction could begin in late 2027 and be completed in 2028.
