A Bothaville man received two life sentences for raping his nieces.
A self-confessed rapist who violated his two minor nieces will serve two life sentences after being sentenced in Bothaville, Free State, this week.
According to the man, he committed the crimes after “a tortoise had whispered in his ear”.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, said the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minor victims, confessed to the crimes and entered a guilty plea at the Bothaville Regional Court, where he faced two counts of rape, read with Section 51(1) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.
Senokoatsane said they welcomed the sentence.
