LUCENA CITY — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has documented the presence of the rare Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys) within the Buenavista Protected Landscape (BPL) in Mulanay, Quezon.

In a report released Friday (June 5), DENR-Region IV-A said patrolling activities conducted by the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) of BPL confirmed the species’ presence in the protected area in the Bondoc Peninsula.

The Jade Vine is an endemic plant species in the Philippines and is classified as endangered under DENR Administrative Order No. 2026-20, or the Updated National List of Threatened Philippine Plants and their Categories.

Jade Vine is a climbing plant that can grow up to 20 meters tall and is known for its hanging, chandelier-like clusters of flowers, making it highly valued as an ornamental species.
