San Antonio, US, June 6 (EFE).- FIFA has reversed an earlier decision and will allow spectators to bring sealed plastic water bottles into stadiums during the 2026 World Cup, the football governing body said.

FIFA said fans can enter any match of the 2026 World Cup in the United States and Canada with a soft, disposable plastic water bottle, factory-sealed, of up to 20 ounces (590 milliliters).

The organization added that hard and reusable bottles will remain prohibited for security reasons.

«As explained by FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Operating Officer Heimo Schirgi, hard and reusable bottles will not be allowed for security reasons,» the statement said.

The decision marks FIFA’s second policy reversal on the issue.
