Netflix’s movie library just got a major refresh with the streaming service adding more than 40 flicks to kick-start June 2026. “Creed” is perhaps the quintessential example of a legacy sequel done right. Helmed by “Sinners” director Ryan Coogler and marking his second collaboration with Oscar-winner Michael B. Jordan, this 2015 sports drama takes the “Rocky” franchise forward in a way that both feels refreshing and respectful of the series legacy. These are fighting words, but there is a strong argument that “Creed” might be the best “Rocky” movie ever.Adonis “Donnie” Johnson (Jordan) is the son of former champion boxer Apollo Creed. Donnie never knew his father, but has inherited his fighting spirit. Pursuing his own dreams of being a champion, he seeks out Apollo’s old rival, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), to be his trainer. Their bond becomes much stronger than boxer/coach, with both learning life lessons from each other. It all culminates in Donnie's first shot at a title fight.Rotten Tomatoes score: 95%Watch "Creed" on Netflix now‘Rocky’ (1976)
