Congress leader Anil Bose has moved the Kerala High Court seeking a Vigilance probe into allegations of misconduct, suppression of assets, and abuse of official position against Kerala Chief Secretary A. Jayathilak.Mr. Bose had earlier approached the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) seeking an investigation into the allegations. In his petition, he alleged that the agency had failed to conduct a transparent enquiry into the allegations.The government pleader, who represented the VACB in the case, submitted that a confidential enquiry was undertaken into the matter.The VACB report said that the allegations were not supported by substantial evidence, and that Mr. Bose had relied on Mr. Jayathilak’s annual property statements and interpreted them on his own. The report recommended that no further action was warranted on the complaint, and that the matter did not disclose an offence which should be probed by the VACB. The allegations did not warrant an enquiry under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, according to the agency.The court posted the case for June 10. Published - June 06, 2026 12:57 am IST
