Attorney-at-law Dr Margaret Satya Rose has been appointed an Opposition Senator, replacing Janelle John-Bates in the Senate.The appointment was announced by the People's National Movement (PNM), which described Dr Rose as an accomplished attorney, public policy researcher and educator with internationally recognised expertise in public procurement, governance, commercial law and anti-corruption systems.According to the party, Dr Rose's professional experience spans both the legal and public policy spheres, making her a valuable addition to the Opposition's parliamentary team.In a statement, Opposition Senator Sajiv Boodhu congratulated Dr Rose on her appointment to the 13th Republican Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago."Senator Dr Rose is a prominent Attorney-at-Law, Public Procurement Specialist and Anti-Corruption Advocate, and has been admitted to practise law in Trinidad and Tobago since October 27, 1995," Boodhu said.He expressed confidence in her ability to contribute to national development and parliamentary debate."I look forward to Senator Dr Rose's contribution to national development and wish her wisdom, courage, humility and strength as she takes her place in the Parliament under the leadership of the Hon. Pennelope Beckles-Robinson and the banner of the People's National Movement," he said.Boodhu also underscored the importance of the Opposition's role in the current political environment."The role of the Opposition is now more important than ever before in our country's history.
