The Malpe police have arrested Sanath R. Kamath, 43, of Kodavoor village in Malpe, on the charge of illegally stocking 12 commercial cylinders of 19 kg each and nine commercial cylinders of five kg each at his residence. The police have seized the cylinders.According to a press release, the police, on a tip-off, raided Kamath’s house on June 3. Personnel from the Food and Civil Supplies Department accompanied the police. On questioning, Kamath told the police that he was selling the cylinders to those using them for fishing purposes. Kamath did not possess a licence to do so.The police arrested Kamath for offences under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act 1955 and Sections 4 and 7 of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order 2000, the release said.
