The Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) has come up with ambitious plans to create additional green spaces across the temple city of Tirupati in the coming days.As part of ‘World Environment Day’ observed by TUDA at its Padmavati Nagar layout developed in Surappakasam village on Friday (June 5, 2026), District Collector S. Venkateswar planted saplings during a special drive involving NCC cadets.On the occasion, he spoke on the ill effects of El Nino and the steps needed to be taken by every individual to tackle global warming.TUDA chairman C. Divakar Reddy announced plans not only to promote greenery in the area under its purview but also to preserve natural resources and water bodies, especially the Swarnamukhi River.“930 places have been identified to be suitable for developing parks in various TUDA-approved layouts,” he said.Joint Collector and TUDA vice-chairman R. Govinda Rao explained the significance of the day, while TUDA secretary N.V. Sreekanth Babu, horticulturist R. Malathi, planning officer P. Devi Kumari and Superintending Engineer K.
