Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday (June 5, 2026) said Andhra Pradesh is aiming at contributing 30% of the target of $30 billion in annual seafood exports set by the Central government.Addressing a joint press conference alongside Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal; Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh; Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu; and Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan, Mr. Naidu outlined a plan for the State’s aquaculture sector, focusing on modernisation and better infrastructure.Aquaculture and fisheriesThe Chief Minister said the State would implement the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMMKSSY) to boost the sector. All pending issues at the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour would be resolved quickly.With the support of the Central government, the State would launch projects in Bhimavaram to link the aquaculture sector to a ‘circular economy’ model.He appealed to the Union government to bail out the farmers who have borne the brunt of market fluctuations and falling support prices for various crops.Energy infrastructureReflecting on national development, Mr. Naidu highlighted strides in energy infrastructure since 2014, noting that India operates a unified national power grid that allows electricity generated in any remote location to be utilised anywhere across the country.He pointed to the success of the renewable energy sector, noting that the cost of solar power has plummeted from ₹14 per unit to ₹2.40 per unit. Furthermore, he credited the Centre’s policy initiatives for enabling the domestic production of solar panels in Andhra Pradesh, replacing the previous dependence on imports.Promoting sustainable growthMr. Naidu credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for India’s efficient national power grid and noted that India is successfully navigating global challenges.Stressing the importance of resource conservation, Mr. Naidu mentioned that the government is promoting energy-saving initiatives.
