The police arrested Suman, 21, a native of Kolkata, in connection with the attack on a female student on Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad campus in February.Suman, who had been working on the campus as a construction worker, was taken into custody from Kolkata after months of surveillance by a special investigation team.He was produced before the court.The case is being investigated by a special team led by Kasaba sub-inspector H. Harshad.The incident occurred on February 23 when Ashwini, a data science engineering student from Salem, was attacked while walking to the dining hall with friends around 8.30 p.m.According to reports, she was following other students when she was attacked, sustaining injuries to her forehead.The students had said that they did not see the attacker.
