The weather is clearing up along the Central Karoo and Garden Route districts.

The Western Cape Government has confirmed the death of one person due to adverse weather conditions in the Central Karoo and Garden Route districts.

While the weather seems to be stabilising after days of heavy rainfall, residents in the area have been urged to remain cautious, as large volumes of water continue to move through river systems across the province.

The MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs, and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, confirmed the death of one individual.

“One fatality has been confirmed in the Garden Route after an individual attempted to cross a flooded river. Authorities have again appealed to residents not to cross flooded rivers or roads, warning that these conditions remain extremely dangerous,” Bredell said.
