The OnePlus Pad 3 had already set a strong foundation last year and the latest OnePlus Pad 4 builds on that formula with faster internals, smarter multi-tasking, and a bigger focus on productivity. At the same time, it highlights the bigger dilemma around Android tablets. They are no longer just oversized entertainment devices, yet they still do not completely replace laptops for serious workflows. That is exactly the space where the OnePlus Pad 4 sits.Starting at ₹59,999 and going up to ₹64,999 for the 12 GB + 512 GB review variant, the tablet clearly aims to compete with the very best Android tablets available right now. After spending time with it, one thing becomes clear. This is easily among the most powerful Android tablets currently available. So, the real question is simple: does the OnePlus Pad 4 justify its flagship pricing, and is it a meaningful upgrade over its predecessor? Let’s find out.DesignDespite its large size, the OnePlus Pad 4 feels extremely light. At 672 grams and just 5.94mm thin, carrying it around is surprisingly comfortable. You barely notice the weight inside a backpack. However, because OnePlus wants this tablet to behave almost like a laptop replacement, its dimensions can sometimes feel slightly awkward during prolonged handheld usage. Personally, I still feel tablets should remain easier to hold for long reading sessions or casual browsing. That said, OnePlus deserves credit for keeping such a large-screen device slim and manageable. The review unit arrived in the Dune Glow colour, and it definitely stands out. It has a warm bronze finish that looks premium without trying too hard. The tablet uses a premium metal unibody design, and the build quality feels excellent throughout. However, the rear surface still attracts fingerprints and smudges quite easily. This continues to be a common issue across tablets, and it honestly feels like innovation around surface materials has stagnated. The rear camera module sits inside a pill-shaped cutout with a single camera sensor and flash beside it, while the OnePlus branding remains centred neatly in the middle. The flat metal frame gives the tablet a sturdy feel. The buttons are tactile and properly placed. The power button sits along the top edge, while the volume controls remain easy to access in landscape mode. The USB Type-C port is positioned thoughtfully for keyboard usage as well. On the front, the display dominates the experience with slim bezels all around. The bezels are uniform and thin enough to feel modern without accidentally triggering touches while holding the device. There is no official IP rating here, which feels disappointing at this price point. One thing I genuinely missed was a bundled protective cover. This tablet almost demands one. Because of the slim design and protruding rear camera module, placing it flat on a table without worrying about scratches becomes difficult. Considering this is a productivity-focused device, a protective case should ideally have been included in the box.DisplayThe OnePlus Pad 4 features a massive 13.2-inch LCD panel with a 3.4K resolution of 3392 x 2400 pixels, a 144 Hz adaptive refresh rate, 315 PPI pixel density, Dolby Vision support, and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness in High Brightness Mode. It also supports 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 12-bit colour depth. On paper, this is an extremely impressive display package, and during real-world usage, it mostly delivers. Text looks sharp, animations feel smooth, and the brightness levels are sufficient even outdoors.Compared to the OnePlus Pad 3, the improvements are incremental rather than revolutionary. The bezels are slightly better optimised, brightness is higher, and the touch response feels more fluid. However, it still uses an LCD panel, and LCD simply cannot reproduce blacks, contrast, and colour depth the same way OLED displays can. Still, I genuinely enjoyed binge-watching content on this display for hours. The 7:5 aspect ratio works brilliantly for productivity too. Split-screen multitasking became one of my favourite parts of using this tablet. Even while writing this review, I had multiple floating windows open alongside research tabs, and the overall workflow felt smooth and comfortable.OS and AIThe OnePlus Pad 4 ships with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, and the software experience reflects restraint. You get 41 pre-installed apps with only two third-party applications, which feels refreshingly clean for a premium Android tablet. OnePlus continues to refine multi-tasking. You can run up to five windows simultaneously, resize them freely, and move between tasks effortlessly. The desktop-like workflow genuinely helps productivity.AI features are integrated more thoughtfully this time. Features like AI Writer, AI Summary, AI Translate, AI Recorder, and AI Painter are all designed around productivity instead of gimmicks. AI Summary turned out to be particularly useful while reading lengthy PDFs and documents. AI Translate works in real-time while preserving layouts, which helps while reading foreign-language content. Cross-device syncing also works well with OnePlus phones, Windows PCs, Macs, and even iPhones through O+ Connect. The overall software experience feels mature, polished, and genuinely useful.PerformanceThe OnePlus Pad 4 becomes the first tablet in India to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and performance is absolutely flagship-grade. The review unit came with 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB UFS 4.1 storage, and throughout my usage, the tablet never felt slow or stressed. Whether it was heavy multitasking, Chrome tabs, editing documents, streaming 4K content, or gaming, everything felt incredibly smooth.Compared to the OnePlus Pad 3, the improvements are noticeable. OnePlus claims the Pad 4 delivers around 42% better AnTuTu performance than its predecessor. In my benchmarking tests, the Pad 4 scored 3348 in Geekbench single-core, 10171 in multi-core, and 23515 in GPU performance. The AnTuTu score reached 3894366. By comparison, the OnePlus Pad 3 scored 3081 single-core, 9375 multi-core, 17942 GPU score, and around 4.1 million on AnTuTu according to OnePlus testing.Gaming performance is excellent too. Even though OnePlus is not branding this as a gaming tablet, it easily handles demanding titles. BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Genshin Impact all ran smoothly with high graphics settings. Thermal management also deserves praise. The large Cryo-velocity cooling system keeps temperatures under control remarkably well even during longer gaming sessions. The large display combined with strong speakers and flagship-grade performance makes this an outstanding entertainment machine. But where it impresses more is productivity. Pair it with the keyboard accessory, and it genuinely starts behaving like a lightweight laptop replacement for many workflows.CameraTablet cameras are rarely the selling point, and that remains true here as well. The OnePlus Pad 4 features a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera. The rear camera supports 4K recording at 30fps, while the front camera handles video calls well enough. For meetings, document scanning, online classes, and quick casual shots, the cameras are perfectly usable. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely reliable enough for everyday tablet tasks.SoundThe eight-speaker setup, featuring four woofers and four tweeters, ended up being one of the highlights during my usage. The speakers sound loud, balanced, and surprisingly rich. Whether the tablet is held vertically or horizontally, the audio remains properly tuned. Watching movies, streaming YouTube videos, or attending meetings felt immersive throughout.BatteryBattery life remains one of the strongest reasons to consider the OnePlus Pad 4. It packs a massive 13,380 mAh battery, which is even larger than the OnePlus Pad 3. Tablets are not devices most people use continuously every single day, and that is where this battery truly shines. Even after leaving it untouched for days, I would still return to find plenty of standby battery remaining. With regular mixed usage involving streaming, multi-tasking, browsing, and writing, the tablet comfortably lasted over a full day. OnePlus claims up to 20 hours of video playback and 54 days of standby time, which sounds do-able given my experience. Charging speeds are excellent too, thanks to 80W SUPERVOOC charging support. Even with such a massive battery, topping it up does not feel painfully slow.AccessoriesOnePlus also offers the Stylo Pro and Smart Keyboard alongside the Pad 4, though the review unit did not include the keyboard accessory. For a tablet positioned around productivity, the keyboard almost feels essential. The large display and multi-tasking focused software naturally push you toward laptop-style usage, and pairing it with the keyboard would likely complete that experience far better. The Stylo Pro, however, was available during testing, and it turned out to be more useful than expected. It supports 16,000 levels of pressure sensitivity; unlike most stylus specifications that sound impressive only on paper, this actually makes a noticeable difference while writing and sketching. I particularly enjoyed using the Writing Tip, which offers more friction against the display and makes note-taking feel closer to writing on paper. The Drawing Tip, meanwhile, has a smoother glide that works better for longer illustration sessions where reduced friction helps avoid fatigue.OnePlus has also added a few thoughtful interactions to the stylus. Squeezing the Stylo Pro provides haptic feedback and instantly opens shortcuts like Quick Note, Annotate, Screen Capture, and Laser Pointer. Small additions like these make the stylus feel more integrated into the overall experience rather than just an optional accessory.VerdictSo, is the OnePlus Pad 4 a worthy upgrade over the OnePlus Pad 3? Yes, but mostly for users who prioritise raw performance, battery life and multi-tasking. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, excellent battery backup, polished software experience and productivity-focused features genuinely make this one of the best Android tablets currently available. At the same time, I still feel Android tablets overall struggle to fully replace laptops for professional workflows. The LCD panel, lack of bundled accessories, and absence of an IP rating hold it back slightly from feeling truly ultra-premium. But if your focus is entertainment, multi-tasking, content consumption, light creative work, or portable productivity, the OnePlus Pad 4 absolutely delivers. For Android users especially, this is easily among the strongest flagship tablet options available right now.
