Taiwan’s Foxconn, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, said on Thursday it would partner with US chipmaker Intel to develop and deploy next-generation AI infrastructure and intelligent computing platforms, seeking to tap surging global demand for AI computing systems. The companies said the partnership would combine Intel’s semiconductor technology with Foxconn’s manufacturing and system integration capabilities to deliver solutions for next-generation AI data centres and edge computing applications.
The collaboration will focus on AI data centre equipment, including server racks powered by Intel’s Xeon processors and AI accelerators. The two companies also plan to jointly develop technologies in areas such as high-speed interconnects, thermal management and energy-efficiency optimisation.
In addition to conventional data centres, Foxconn and Intel said they would develop AI systems for applications including factories, smart cities and robotics, as they seek to expand AI computing infrastructure into a wider range of industrial and commercial use cases.
