Three quarters of European CEOs say the conflict has harmed short-term prospects

The Middle East has further eroded the confidence of business leaders across the EU’s economies, a new study has found, as soaring energy prices compound other long-term challenges.

A study released on Friday by the European Round Table for Industry (ERT), a Brussels-based lobby group, found that two thirds of its CEOs and chairs believe that business conditions in the EU have deteriorated over the past six months.

More than half of the 57 people surveyed also said they expect economic conditions to further worsen over the rest of this year.
