A fresh controversy has erupted within the minority caucus of the House of Representatives as members of the "G-60 group of opposition lawmakers" rejected allegations that signatures used to nominate Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere as Minority Leader were forged.
The lawmakers insisted that all signatures appended to the nomination document were voluntarily provided by members of the caucus and accused critics of attempting to discredit what they described as a transparent and democratic process.
The rebuttal followed claims made during plenary on Thursday by the House Deputy Spokesperson, Philip Agbese, who reportedly alleged that his signature was forged on the document submitted in support of Ugochinyere's emergence as Minority Leader.
However, in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Mukhtar Umar and Hon. Seyi Sowunmi on behalf of the G-60 Minority Caucus, the lawmakers dismissed the allegation as false and misleading.
